Hi All, Dan's over working the arena for tomorrow. He just called and said it's "Stinking COLD and WINDY as heck" so, unless they cancle the show tomorrow for some reason, everyone should be prepared for a cold windy day. Layer clothing, gloves, extra socks etc. I know I will, I hate being cold! See you all there tomorrow!

Tomorrows Show
Hey all, Happy Saturday! Hope you're all getting ready for tomorrow. Dan just got back from the arena and things are looking good. If you heard that there was a possibility of rain for tomorrow, I checked with Doppler and it shouldn't hit us until later in the afternoon or early evening, if it hits us at all. It is however, VERY WINDY (I know you're all shocked, right? lol) So be prepared for wind, but if the temperature holds it should be nice with the exception of the wind.

Volunteer positions
Hi All, I just wanted to note that there has been some confusion as to when you open the exit gate for the rider to leave the arena. CGA Rules state, "the gate should be opened for the rider to exit the arena AFTER the rider has the horse under control and not before". This avoids possible accidents and keeps horses that aren't under control from getting out of the arena setting up a possibly very dangerous situation for both horse, rider and guests at the show. Our show would never run smoothly without all the wonderful people who "jump in there" when someone is needed. I know that I'm grateful for all the volunteers that work the show. I would also just like to say that if you are volunteering for a position that you have never done before, PLEASE ask for clarification on how to do what you're signing up for it. It may seem silly to you, everyone knows how to open a gate right? There are particular rules to keep everyone safe and things going smoothly, it's always better to ask, then to do it wrong and have a problem. There are Board Members, Judges and people who have been coming to AVDR for many years. Any of us would be happy to help out any new people who aren't quite sure what to do, where to go, or in the case of people who have never done gymkhanna even how to run the courses. This is an easy going family type of event and we want to keep everything smooth and everyone happy. I guess what it boils down to, is if you're not sure about something find someone to ask. There are many of us who are very willing to help anyone who needs it or is a bit unsure. For those of you that have family or friends come to the show and they volunteer to do something for you, please make sure they know what to do. No one wants to see anyone get hurt, especially over something that could have been avoided. The old saying still holds true, "The only stupid question is the one not asked!" We're happy you're here and would like to see any of you that are new continue to come back. If you don't know where to find someone to ask a question the judges are almost always behind the office by the arena, you can usually find several there at any given time during the show. Just remember not to disturb the Judge while an event is being run. Hope everyone is ready to have a great day tomorrow! I know we are, see you at the show everyone.
